Experiences you'll have

Journey to Kamchatka in summer

During the trip you’ll visit many of Kamchatka’s unique sites, like the active volcanoes Mutnovsky and Avachinsky, which are considered to be the most beautiful volcanoes of Kamchatka, and the unique and wonderful Valley of Geysers — a miracle of the world.

You’ll be able to take a sea trip along Avacha Bay and the Pacific Ocean and Valley of Geysers. You’ll raft at the Bystraya river, which flows through a glorious mountain range. You’ll be able to watch the wild nature of Kamchatka: brown bears, birds, and salmon swimming through the rivers.

The tour is guaranteed to be organized on all announced dates.
It is possible to join only for a part of the tour with an individual program.

Itinerary

The journey begins with a meeting at the airport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which you must travel to on your own. We can help with the purchase of tickets. If necessary, leave a comment on the application.

Day 1 Arrival and acquaintance

Arrival at the airport, transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (20km). Accommodation at a hotel, rest. Strolls along the city.

Day 2 Valley of Geysers (optional) and a trip to the volcanoes

It's a free day. If you want you may make a helicopter excursion to the Valley of Geysers with a flight around Karymsky (1486 m) and Maly Semyachik (1560 m) volcanoes and a walking excursion in the Valley. This valley cannot be compared with any other place in the world. There are more than 20 big geysers in the valley, including Velican (Giant), Zhemchuzhny (Pearly), Sakharny (Sugary), Troinoi (Triple), Konus (Cone), Fontan (Fountain), Maly (Small), Bolshoy (Big), Shchel (Split).

There are geysers that gush forth every 10-12 minutes, while others may erupt once in 4-5 hours. The wreathes of steam, fountains of boiling water, incredible colours of slopes, hot water streaming along them and profuse greenery of grasses and trees create an enchanting spectacle. Lunch is served at the Valley. In the evening driving to Avachinsky volcano by “off road” car (45 km).

Day 3 Conquest of Avacha volcano

Ascent to Avachinsky volcano (2749 m). Walk to the young cone of volcano. From the edge of the volcano a stunning view can be seen of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, Elizovo, the valley of Avacha River and Avacha Bay, with Vilyuchinsky, Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes to the south and the valley of the Nalychevo River, Zhupanovsky and Dzenzur volcanoes to the north. The massive cone of Koryak volcano is seen to the west. Ascent takes about 6-8 hours. If the climbing is difficult for somebody, it’s possible to return to the camp.

Day 4 Walk on Mount Camel and Koryaksky Volcano

Excursion walk on the slopes of Koryaksky volcano and to the mountain named “Camel” (4-5 hours). Driving to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Accommodation at a hotel, rest.

Day 5 Rafting on the Bystraya River

Driving to the Bystraya River (120 km). The rafting begins on floatable rafts among grand mountain ranges that tower on either side of the rapids. The nature is virtually unspoilt and is very safe for novices. Dinner at the fire, fish soup. Spending the night in tents.

Day 6 Wildlife watching

Rafting along the Bystraya River (2 rapids). While you raft, you can fish, pick some mushrooms and berries, and watch birds and wild ducks, among many other animals. If you are lucky enough, you’ll see a bear or a Steller’s sea eagle. All those things make rafting very interesting. Spending the night in tents.

Day 7 Finishing rafting and rest

Rafting along the Bystraya River (1 rapid). Finish rafting. Driving to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (180 km). Accommodation at a hotel, rest.

Day 8 Sea trip along the Avacha Bay

Sea trip along Avacha Bay. Seeing the sea birds’ nests on the islands “Babushkin Kamen (Granny’s Stone)” and “Tree Brata (Three Brothers)”. Short trip in the Pacific Ocean to the island “Starichkov”. Sea fishing, seeing the seal rookery. Opportunity to meet whales and dolphins. Lunch, fresh fish soup.

After the boat trip, we will drive to Mutnovsky volcano by “off road” car (100 km). Setting up the camp. Spending the night in tents.

Day 9 Ascent into the crater of Mutnovsky volcano

Ascent to the crater of Mutnovsky volcano (2323 m). Seeing active fumaroles, mud siphons, mud craters, and a mountain lake. The crater of the volcano Mutnovsky is one of the most wonderful volcanic phenomena of Kamchatka. Steep walls surround the wide and deep crater, with shining glaciers. Ascending takes 8 hours. If it is difficult for somebody to ascend it’s possible to return to the camp. Spending the night in tents.

Day 10 Climbing Gorely volcano

Excursion to Gorely volcano (1829 m), with a walk along the coulee (hardened lava-stream) and the slag fields, seeing 3 lake-filled craters. The excursion takes 8 hours. Driving to the recreation department in the resort area “Paratunka”. Accommodation, rest, bathing in swimming-pools with hot thermal water (hot springs).

Day 11 Homecoming

A group of 16-18 people is accompanied by a senior guide and assistant. To become a senior, you need 2-3 years to work as an assistant. Many guides graduated from mountaineering school or an international school of guides. The conductors on the active part of the journey are well acquainted with the route. In transport with you will be a representative of the travel agency, in his absence, the accompanying functions fall on the driver.

Meals +

Meals will be cooked three times a day. Take a snack with you while climbing. Tea, coffee and cookies are always available. The menu can be adapted to accommodate vegetarians — notify the manager when booking.

What the weather looks like +

Kamchatka is a mountainous region stretching from the north to the south and surrounded by the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk. The weather here is variable, and different regions have their own microclimate. For trekking tours, June can be the most convenient, when there are no mosquitoes and the leaves of trees and grass do not interfere with the survey and movement. The best months for summer travel are July and August.

The average temperature in August is from +12 to +16 °С depending on the area, so do not forget to take warm clothes. On the highest parts of the mountains there are glaciers. It is possible to rain, but at high altitudes, even snow. In the forests at this time, there are a lot of mosquitoes and midges, so we advise you to purchase protective equipment. In September, the weather is stable, but it is necessary to take the lower temperature into account and the possibility of frost.

What should I bring with me +
  • a rucksack or a travel bag
  • a sleeping bag and a tourist rug
  • trekking boots or rubber boots
  • additional shoes to change into
  • things for personal hygiene, bathing accessories
  • warm clothes (waterproof jacket or windbreaker)
  • sunglasses
  • a hat
  • a small lamp
  • gloves
  • sticks for climbing
  • a first-aid kit
  • anti-mosquito spray
