A short trip to the polar region is a great way to have an unusual weekend. You will spend three days in Yamal: see the capital of the region, get acquainted with its history and locals and take a trip to the most picturesque places of the region, which are impossible to get to by ordinary transport.
Traveling across the blooming tundra on TRECOL all-terrain vehicles, hiking to waterfalls and glaciers will make your journey bright and memorable, and the incredible nature of the North will charge you with energy for a long time.

Itinerary
The journey begins in Salekhard, where you should get to on your own in the morning on the first day of the program. We recommend the Yamal airline flight from Moscow arriving in Salekhard at 8 a.m. and the return flight departing from Salekhard at 9:10 a.m. on the final day of the program.

Day 1 Getting to know Yamal
After meeting at Salekhard airport, you will be taken to the city by minibus, where you will have breakfast (extra paid). On the way you will cross the Polar Circle: at the 66th parallel Stele, you will be given personal certificates from Yamal Ded Moroz (Rus. for Grandfather Frost, a Russian version of Santa Claus) as a memento of this event.
After arriving in the city you will check in at the hotel, and then go on a guided tour. You will see the Mammoth sculptural composition, devoted to the ancient inhabitants of the North, and visit the cultural and historical complex Victory Park, where military equipment of different eras is represented.
Then you will get to Obdorsky ostrog (Rus. for Fort). This is an open-air architectural complex, built without any nails, according to the canon of wooden architecture of the XVI century. The town of Obdorsk, which later became Salekhard, was founded there in 1595. You will see a wooden fortress on the river bank and hear the history of the development of the northern Ob region and the city. You will also visit the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul – the monument of the XIX century architecture.
After lunch in the cafe, you will visit the museum and exhibition complex of Ivan Shemanovsky. It is the main museum of Yamal: its collection includes more than 60 thousand historical and ethnographic pieces, works of art, a collection of minerals and fauna of the region. In the museum, you will see an impressive archaeological collection and the remains of the famous mammoth named Luba.
Then you will be brought by minibus to Gornoknyazevsk – a small picturesque settlement, located on the right bank of the Ob River. There you will visit the ethnic ethnographical complex, plunge into the atmosphere of national life, and get acquainted with the culture of the indigenous people of the North.
In the evening you will return to the hotel, have dinner (paid extra) and rest.
Stage length: 75 km by bus, 2 km on foot.
Day 2 Journey to Jade Valley
Today after breakfast you will have an introduction to Jade Valley. The minibus will take you first to the ferry crossing. After crossing the river you will take TRECOL all-terrain vehicles, on which you will drive the rest of the way to the valley.
In the past, green semi-precious stones, such as nephrite and jadeite, were mined in the Jade Valley. Now there are few minerals, but the valley still attracts tourists with its amazing nature. An easy trekking tour awaits you, during which you can enjoy the alpine scenery and see the Jade Waterfall and the unusual Dinosaur Mountain. At the waterfall, you will have a small picnic and have the opportunity to take pictures.
After returning to the vehicle you will have a field lunch and go back. In Salekhard, you will have dinner (paid extra) at the hotel.
Stage length: 160 km by bus and TRECOL, 6 km on foot.
Day 3 Trekking to the Romantikov Glacier
On this day you will have a trekking trip to one of the most impressive places of Yamal – to the Romantikov (Rus. for The Romantic’s) Glacier.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will take a minibus to the Kharp Village and cross the river by ferry. To get there you will need to register at the checkpoint. When you arrive at the trekking start point you will be briefed about safety rules and will start your ascent accompanied by an experienced guide.
Ancient Romantikov Glacier hid from prying eyes among the Polar Urals slopes. To get to it is not so easy, but under an experienced guide, everyone can do it. Due to climatic changes, the glacier began to thaw, but it is still able to surprise even experienced tourists.
At the foot of the glacier, you will arrange a photo session and have a snack with sandwiches and tea from a thermos. Then you will go back to the minibus and return to Salekhard. In the evening you will have dinner (paid extra) at the hotel.
Stage length: 130 km by a minibus, 10 km on foot.
Day 4 Return home
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to the airport for your morning flight to Moscow.

You will stay in the Arktika Hotel 3*, located in the center of Salekhard. You will be accommodated in standard double rooms. Each of them will have two single beds, bedside tables, a closet, a desk, a coffee table, chairs, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom. There is a restaurant on site.
Common questions
Experienced guides will work with you throughout the tour: a tour guide and company representative on Day 1, qualified instructor guides on Days 2 and 3.
The cost of the tour includes breakfasts on Days 2-4, lunch at the cafe on the day of arrival, and hiking lunches along the route on Days 2 and 3. You will need to pay extra for breakfast on the day of arrival and dinners.
We can arrange vegetarian meals – please let the manager know if this is needed.
You will travel in comfortable Mercedes Sprinter or Honda Step Wagon vans, and in TRECOL all-terrain vehicles or Kamaz vehicles.
The average daytime temperature in Yamal ranges from +18 to +25 °С in the summer, there is often a moderate wind. You will be offered alternative activities in case of rain.
Mobile communication and the Internet will be guaranteed in the city, on the routes – partially.
