Snowmobile tour to the Kola peninsula

Majestic mountain peaks, wrapped in mists, deep gorges and frozen waterfalls. Cliffs of granite and endless expanses of snow amidst the piercing blue of the northern sky... The Khibiny mountains will show you all its beauty during this snowmobile tour. Also Khibiny is an ideal place to test yourself in extreme conditions. In our school of mountain snowmobiling you will learn the basics of safe riding, as well as the technique of descents, ascents and turns on the slopes. 

You will ride more than 500 km by the new mountain snowmobiles Ski-Doo Summit 600, Lynx Ranger 600, Arctic Cat 800, Lynx BoonDocker и Ski-Doo Freeride 800

Every day you will follow new routes, discovering new landscapes and the majestic winter sceneries in the heart of the Khibiny mountains. And in the evening you will return to a cozy hotel with a spa-complex.

 

Just in 3 days of the tour you will:

  • cross Lake Greater Imandra, one of the largest lakes in the North of Russia and see the unusual heart-shaped lake
  • visit the railway stations of Imandra and Khibiny, which have for years been the transshipment points for exploration expeditions
  • conquer the mountain passes, such as the Reschor Pass, the West and East Petrelius Passes, and the Pass of Geologists
  • see the legendary Wilhelm Ramsay's Gorge and learn about the famous geological expeditions to the Khibiny mountains and Kola peninsula
  • marvel at the frozen waterfall
  • observe the panorama of the Khibiny mountains from the top of Mount Kukisvumchorr
  • taste the national venison and seafood cuisine

 

Choosing the dates of a trip, please keep in mind that the polar night lasts in Khibiny until mid-February. So, you should be ready for a short daylight hours. At the same time until mid-March it is likely to see the Northern lights.

Itinerary

The journey begins in Kirovsk, where you should travel to on your own. We are ready to help you with the purchase of tickets. If necessary, please, leave a comment in the application.

Day 1 The pearl of the Khibiny

After meeting at the airport you will be taken to the hotel. Here you will choose snowmobiles and have some training. Next you will be provided with gear and will ride a snowmobile to Lake Maly Vudyavr, that is considered to be the Pearl of the Khibiny Mountains. You will enjoy the amazing landscapes of a winter tundra, as well as will see the dancing conifers and stone boulders 'ingrown' among them.


Afterwards you will go to the Takhtarporr Ridge and visit its observation platforms and the 'training slope'. After a short trip to the Maly Vudyavriok River, you will come back to the hotel.


The length of a route is 215 km by snowmobiles.

Day 2 Ride to the heart of the Kola

Today you will drive a snowmobile to the Bolshoi Vudyavriok River and further to Lake Serdtsevidnoye, which derives its name (Russian for 'heart-shaped') from its unusual shape.


The route then goes to the Kunyiok River and the Risikyor River, Mount Kuelporr, and the Northern Reschor Gorge, where you will visit the observation platforms. Then you will climb up Mount Kukisvumchorr, which overlooks all of the Khibiny Mountains. After that, you will return to the hotel, have dinner and rest.  


The length of a route is 160 km by snowmobiles.

Day 3 Through the mountain passes

This day snowmobiling to the Pass of Geographers is waiting for you. It is located between Lake Maly Vudyavr and the valley of the Bolshaya Belaya River. On the rise, steep slopes alternate with gentle landings. The peak overlooks the Khibiny Mountains, Lake Imandra and Apatity. Here you will admire a breathtaking scenery!

 

Your further route is as follows: from W. Ramsay Pass to East and West Petrelius Pass. Next you will ride along the Puachvunyok Stream and the Maly Vudyavriok River.

 

Coming back to the hotel, you will take SUVs to go back to Kirovsk.

 

The length of a route is 140 km by snowmobiles.

Accommodation during the trip

During the tour you will stay at Tirvas Hotel. It is a comfortable recreation and SPA hotel complex, located in the Khibiny mountains, a 10-minute drive from Kirovsk. You will be accommodated in double or twin rooms overlooking the mountains. Each room has a private bathroom, a TV with cable channels, a fridge and free Wi-Fi. Guests can play billiards or enjoy the spa centre with a swimming pool and a sauna.

Who will be my guide? +

On your journey you will be accompanied by professional guides and instructors who have more than 10 years of experience working in the mountains. If a snowmobile group is to drive five snowmobiles or less, it will be accompanied by a single guide; otherwise, by two guides.

Meals +

The tour fee includes three meals a day. Buffet breakfast and buffet dinner at the hotel, lunch en route. You will taste the national cuisine, including venison, mushrooms, berries, and seafood.

How to get to Kirovsk +

We recommend to take a Severstal Moscow to Kirovsk flight. It departs on Friday at 8:40 am and arrives at 11 am. The return flight is also a Severstal flight departing on Sunday at 6:30 pm. Arrival to Moscow at 8:45 pm.

Can children participate? +

You can take children aged of 8 years old and older, who will get a discount. Contact our manager for details.

What kind of snowmobiles are used +

You will drive fully equipped and tested mountain snowmobiles of a new lineup: Ski-Doo Summit 600, Lynx Ranger 600, Arctic Cat 800, Lynx BoonDocker, Ski-Doo Freeride 800. Each snowmobile has warm heated boxes for your cell phones, camera batteries, glasses, etc.
