Experiences you'll have

A sightseeing tour in Karelia

You will explore Karelia moving from the north to the south of the region. The starting point is the Solovetsky archipelago. Here, you will learn about a thousand-year history of the islands, discover channels of Bolshoy Slovetsky Island in a boat trip and see ancient labyrinths on Bolshoy Zayatsky Island.

 

You will admire beluga whales from Cape Beluzhiy — this place is the only one in the world, where you can see these animals from the coast. In other cases, it is necessary to go to sea.  

You will have individual excursions with an expanded program. Any dates comfortable for you can be chosen.

Kizhi Pogost with its wooden churches is waiting for you. In an ethnic village Kinerma you will see traditions of Karelians and participate in a culinary workshop. There are beautiful turquoise lakes in the mountain park Ruskeala. In the excursion to Valaam you will discover monasteries, life of monks and a unique natural complex.

 

The cost of the tour depends on the quantity of participants:

Important: The schedule of the tour can be changed due to weather conditions. In case of bad weather boating excursions will be replaced by a walking or a car tour.  

Itinerary

The journey starts in Kem, where you should travel by your own. We are ready to help with the purchase of tickets. If necessary, leave a comment in the order.

Day 1 Arrival in Kem

Upon arrival in Kem you will be transferred to a touristic complex 'Prichal' (15 minutes). Here, you will stay overnight.

Day 2 The Solovetsky Monastery

After breakfast, with a ferry you will go to the Solovetsky Islands (2 hours). Here, you will have a group excursion 'History and architecture of the Solovetsky Monastery'.  

 

After having lunch in a restaurant and accommodating in Solovki Hotel, you will have a boat trip to Cape Beluzhiy (3 hours). It is located in the western part of Bolshoy Solovetsky island. Here, you can see beluga whales.

 

In the evening you will be back to the hotel. There will be enough time for a walk around. You can visit a Maritime Museum for instance (a free entrance). Dinner will be in the restaurant of the hotel.

Day 3 Channels of Bolshoy Slovetsky Island and a walking tour

During a rowboat trip you will explore the channels and lakes of Bolshoy Slovetsky Island. You will drive a boat by yourself (5 hours, 2-3 persons in a boat).  

 

After lunch in the hotel, an individual walking tour 'History of Solovetsky archipelago' is waiting for you. The itinerary starts in Solovetsky village and goes along the White Sea coast. You will see the Cape of Labyrinths, Solovetsky stone, cemetery of the monastery, dry dock and a hydropower plant.

Day 4 Bolshoy Zayatsky Island

Today, you will have a tour to Bolshoy Zayatsky Island (3 hours). The territory of the island is covered with ancient boulder structures.

 

You will have lunch, take your luggage from the hotel and with ferry will go back to Kem (2 hours). From here with a comfortable bus or car you will start a trip to Petrozavodsk (420 km, 6 hours). You will be in the city at midnight and spend a night in Fregat Hotel.

Day 5 Kizhi Pogost

This day with a speed ferry you will come to Kizhi Island (1 hour 45 mins). Here, you will have an individual sightseeing tour (2 hours).

 

Lunch will take place in the restaurant with a traditional cuisine.

 

After that, an expanded individual excursion 'Mysteries of Kizhi Pogost' is waiting for you.

 

In the evening with a ferry you will come back to Petrozavodsk. You will have a walk on embankment, then have dinner in the restaurant of a hotel.  

Day 6 Kinerma village and Ruskeala

You will move to Sortavala region. On the way you will visit an ethnic village Kinerma (110 km away from Petrozavodsk). Here, you will visit a culinary workshop, where you will learn how to cook national Karelian bakery — kalitki. You will have a sightseeing walking tour as well.

 

For lunch you will taste meals of traditional cuisine cooked in a Russian stove.

 

Later you will reach the mountain park Ruskeala. With an individual excursion you will explore this unique place.

 

In the evening you will come to Dacha Wintera Hotel (30 mins). It is located near Ladoga lake. Here, you will have dinner and stay for a night.

Day 7 Valaam

You will spend one night in touristic complex 'Prichal' in Kem. It is located on the coast of the White Sea.

 

On Solovetsky Islands you will stay in Solovki Hotel, which is 200 meters from the picturesque shore.

 

You will live in Dacha Wintera Hotel in Sortavala. It is located near Ladoga lake.

 

Fregat Hotel is in the center of Petrozavodsk not far away from Onega lake
