Trans-Siberian railway trip

Along with visiting historical and architectural monuments, traditional cultural centers and meeting local craftsmen, you will explore Baikal lake and hike in Stolby National Park.

 

 

There is classical ballet in Saint Petersburg, famous Metro and Stalin's Bunker in Moscow, village life of Petushki in the program. You will see an ancient city Vladimir and Suzdal — the town of churches. In the Muslim capital of Russia, Kazan, you will visit a beautiful Mosque. Ural rocks museum in Yekaterinburg, Ob sea in Novosibirsk and an astonishing National Park in Krasnoyarsk are also in the list to see during the trip. Fishing on Baikal Lake and exploring Olkhon Island will let you relax after a long travel.

Kayaking in the Neva river, culinary and handcrafts workshops, tasting Medovukha and visiting famous bars of Saint Petersburg and Moscow will make the adventure unique.

Itinerary

The journey begins in Saint Petersburg, and you have to get there on your own. Note that the trip finishes in Irkutsk. Please consider this when buying international tickets.

Day 1 Arrival in Saint Petersburg

After arrival in Saint Petersburg and accommodating in a hotel, you will have a walking tour of the city centre. Visiting ballet or opera at the Mariinsky theatre is in the program today. At night you will watch a drawing of the main bridges.

Day 2 Peterhof Palace

In the morning kayaking in the Neva river is waiting for you. After that, with an urban train you will go to Peterhof palace, where you will have a walking tour. In the evening you will visit a famous Vinovnitsa Bar or Bekitzer Bar in the 'bar capital' of Russia.

Day 3 Arrival in Moscow

Today with a Sapsan speed train you will go to Moscow. After accommodating in a hotel, you will have a walking tour where you will see Moscow Metro’s monuments of Soviet epoch. Then, you will go on Moscow city pub crawl.

Day 4 Museums of Moscow

This day you will visit Stalin's Bunker, the Museum of the history of Vodka and Izmailovsky Kremlin.

 

With an urban train you will move to Petushki town. Here, you will accommodate in traditional wooden guest houses at Bogdarnya farm.

Day 5 Bogdarnya farm

You will visit Bogdarnya’s cheese and dairy farm. Then, you will have a Russian style cart riding. After an excursion to the Museum of Petukh (rooster in Russian), the symbol of Russian village in Petushki town, you will go to Vladimir city with an urban train.

Days 6 Vladimir and Suzdal

Today you will have a walking tour of Vladimir, an ancient Russian town, and Suzdal, the city of churches. You will taste Medovukha — an alcoholic beverage composed of water, honey, yeast and some flavors. Visiting a pottery workshop is in the program as well.

 

With a speed train you will go to Nizhny Novgorod, from where you will depart to Kazan.

Day 7 Kazan

You will arrive in Kazan and have a short rest after night in the train. Kazan is a Muslim capital of Russia and you will visit a mosque here.

 

For lunch you will taste meals of Tatar cuisine. On a cooking workshop you will learn how to cook chack-chack, Tatar sweet dish.

Day 8 Road to Yekaterinburg

Early in the morning you will depart to Yekaterinburg. You will have breakfast and lunch in the train.

 

In Yekaterinburg you will check into a hotel and have dinner at Panorama café in the 'Vysotsky' skyscraper.

Day 9 Tour of Yekaterinburg

During a walking tour of the city centre you will visit Ural rocks and gems museum. Then, you will have a dumplings' cooking workshop. After dinner, you will have a walk along the embankment of Iset river.

 

In the evening you will depart to Novosibirsk.

Day 10 Arrival in Novosibirsk

You will spend day in the train and arrive in Novosibirsk in the evening. You will accommodate in a hotel and have a Siberian dinner.

Day 11 Novosibirsk city tour

During Novosibirsk city bus tour, you will see the Science campus, Hydropower plant and 'Ob sea'. Then, you will depart to Krasnoyarsk.

Day 12 Krasnoyarsk

After arrival in Krasnoyarsk and checking into a hotel, you will hike to the Stolby National Park. You will have lunch during the hiking.

Day 13 Departure to Irkutsk

You will have breakfast early in the morning and have a walk along Yenisei river embankment. In the afternoon you will depart to Irkutsk.

Day 14 Baikal museum and Chersky rock

After arrival in Irkutsk, you will visit the Baikal museum. Then, you will visit Chersky rock observation deck, where you will get by feet and with a ropeway.

Day 15-17 Olkhon Island

On Day 15 you will be transferred to Olkhon island, where you will stay in a tourist camp. Here, you will relax on a beach and swim in Baikal.

 

On Day 16 you will have a great 4x4 ride around Olkhon island with visiting Shamanka rock, Sagan-Khushun horn and Khoboy horn. Depending on the weather it can also be a boat trip along the island and Maloe More (the Small Sea) Strait. After returning to the base, you will have a traditional dinner with dishes cooked from Baikal fish.

 

On day 17 you will be transferred back to Irkutsk. In the city you will visit Buryat shaman and receive a blessing from the Baikal sea spirit. You will taste local Buryat dishes and visit Golden Horde еthno park. Then, you will be transferred to the airport.

During the trip you will stay in hotels 3* — 2 nights in Saint Petersburg, 1 night in Moscow, 1 night in Vladimir, 1 night in Kazan, 1 night in Ekaterinburg, 1 night in Novosibirsk, 1 night in Krasnoyarsk and 1 night in Irkutsk.

 

In Petushki town you will stay in wooden guest houses at Bogdarnya farm for 1 night. During 2 nights on Olkhon Island you will live in guest houses in the tourist camp.

 

 You will spend nights in the 1st and 2nd class trains while going between cities: Vladimir — Kazan, Ekaterinburg — Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk — Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk — Irkutsk. There will be 4 nights in total in the train during the trip with no more than two consecutive nights.
