Experiences you'll have

A rich journey through Kamchatka

In only 8 days you will see and visit the most beautiful natural sites of the Kamchatka Peninsula, alternating between different types of outdoor activities. You will fly to the Kurilskoye Lake by helicopter, go to the foot of Mutnovsky volcano on quad bikes, raft down the Karymchina river and take a boat trip to Avacha Bay and the Pacific Ocean on a comfortable yacht.

The most striking impression of this VIP-tour is the helicopter trip to the Kurilskoye Lake with a flyover of the Ksudach volcano and a swim in the thermal springs. Unlike other tours to Kamchatka, this excursion will be held in an extended format and only for your group.

During 8 days of the trip you will:

  • ascend to the crater of the Mutnovsky volcano and walk through its huge fumarole field
  • take a spectacular photo against the background of the Opasniy waterfall – a powerful stream of water that falls into a deep canyon from the height of 80 meters
  • spend 2 days in a tent camp surrounded by wild nature and swim in thermal springs
  • fly in a helicopter over the picturesque Ksudach volcano, the crater of which holds an enormous lake
  • closely observe bears hunting sockeye salmon while boating on the Kurilskoye Lake
  • see large colonies of birds on Starichkov island and a rookery of sea lions in Russkaya bay
  • take part in sea and river fishing and try to catch your own plaice
  • try the freshest sea delicacies - a diver will accompany you during the boat trip and fetch crabs and sea urchins for you

Comfortable accommodation in a mountain base camp with thermal springs on site awaits you on this journey. On the rafting route and during the boat trip a professional chef will accompany you to prepare expedition-style haute cuisine dishes with a variety of Kamchatka delicacies.

Note: we can hold this program on any other dates for your group of 12 people.

Itinerary

The trip starts in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, where you should get to on your own. We recommend the Aeroflot flights arriving at 10 am on the first day of the tour and departing back to Moscow at 1 pm on the last day. We are ready to assist with the purchase of tickets. If necessary, leave a comment in the application.

The exact sequence of the route may change.

Day 1 Arriving to Kamchatka

After the meeting at the airport, you will be taken to the base camp at the Verkhne-Partuanskaya valley. A stop at the local fish market on the way will be possible if desired.

After checking into the hotel you will have lunch during which you will get acquainted with the guides and discuss the upcoming program. Then you will receive a safety briefing. In the evening you will have dinner in the restaurant and swim in the thermal springs located on the premises of the base.

Day 2 ATV ride to the Mutnovsky volcano

After breakfast, you will ride ATVs (two persons per vehicle) to the Mutnovsky volcano (2323 m in altitude), one of the most active volcanoes in the south of Kamchatka. The route will follow a gravel road through a pass with magnificent views of Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes.

After descending from the pass, you will find yourself on a vast mountain plateau. From here you will start your hike to the crater of the Mutnovsky volcano. You will see eternal glaciers, colorful rock outcrops, boiling mud pits, and a huge fumarole field with powerful sulfurous gas vents as you ascend. The crater of the volcano consists of two cones, each containing acidic crater lakes of vibrant colors.

After descending from the volcano, you will have lunch outdoors, then move on to the Opasniy (Rus. for "Risky") waterfall. Its height is 80 meters, and its powerful stream of rumbling waters plunges into a vast canyon.

You will return to the base camp by evening, have dinner in the restaurant and be able to rest and relax in the thermal pool.

Stage length: 50 km by ATM.

Day 3 Thermal springs and the Kurilskoye Lake

Today you will be taken by helicopter to Kurilskoye Lake, where you will be able to observe the famous Kamchatka brown bears.

You will fly in a Mi-8 helicopter to the south of Kamchatka, making your first stop at Khodutka volcano, at the foot of which more than 20 thermal springs are located, forming the Goryachiy (Rus. for “Hot”) brook with water temperature up to 80°С.

On the way to the Khodutkin Springs, you will fly around the picturesque Ksudach volcano (1079 m) holding an enormous lake inside its caldera. In March 1907, an unusually powerful eruption happened out of its young Shtubel cone: the ash spread all over the peninsula to the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk.

At the Hodutkin springs, you will have lunch outdoors. After having a rest and swimming you will fly to Kurilskoye Lake by helicopter. There you will first have a hike to the source of the Ozernaya river, and then a one-hour walk along the lake, during which you'll be able to observe Kamchatka brown bears in their natural habitat.

The Kurilskoye Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in Kamchatka, formed in the caldera of an ancient volcano. The lake is one of the largest spawning grounds of prized fish species. Bears come out to the shores of the lake to feed, so you will have a unique opportunity to observe bears fishing from a close but safe distance.

You will then leave the lake, and a helicopter will take you to the starting point of the rafting trip down the Karymchina River. You will cover approximately 15 km on rafts, and you will be able to fish along the way. By evening you will pick a campsite, have dinner and rest in tents.

Day 4 Rafting down the Karymchina River

After breakfast, you will continue rafting down the Karymchina river for approximately 15 km. Along the way, you will make several stopovers for rest, lunch and fishing. In the evening you will have a dinner of freshly caught fish and spend the night in the tent camp on the riverbank.

Day 5 Transit to Paratunka

In the morning after breakfast, you will cover a further 15 km stretch down the river and finish the trip at the hydropower station on the Tolmacheva river by lunchtime. After that, you will be taken by a comfortable Ural shift car to the familiar base camp in the Verhne-Paratunskaya valley.

In the evening you will have dinner and swim in the thermal springs at the base camp.

Day 6 Free day

Today you will have some free time at the base camp. You can simply have a rest and try the “Kamchatkan SPA" or choose one of the additional activities for an extra fee. You can go on ATV trips around the area, book fishing sessions, or surfing lessons in the Pacific.

We also recommend you take a helicopter tour to the Valley of Geysers – a unique natural landmark of Kamchatka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This program also includes a tour around the Uzon volcano caldera, a flight around the active Maly Semyachik Volcano and bathing in hot springs.

For more information on the cost of additional excursions, see the "Common Questions" section.

Day 7 Boat trip to the Russkaya Bay

Today after breakfast you will be taken to the port, from where you will embark on an 8-hour boat trip from Avacha Bay to Russkaya Bay.

The Avacha Bay is the "transportation gate" of Kamchatka and one of the largest ice-free bays in the world. Passing through Avacha Bay you will see picturesque cliffs, Babushkin Kamen (Rus. for “Grandma’s Stone”) island and one of the main symbols of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy – the Three Brothers rocks.

Then you will take the boat out into the Pacific Ocean to Starichkov island. One of the largest colonies of waterfowl on Kamchatka is located there: murrelets, puffins, cormorants and guillemots nest here. During the trip, you can enjoy sea fishing. A diver will accompany you on the boat and catch the freshest seafood for you, so you'll have freshly cooked crab and sea urchins for lunch.

After reaching Russkaya Bay, you will take motorboats to the Kekurny Cape, where a large rookery of Steller sea lions – the largest of the eared seals – is located. You can get as close as possible to them by boat, and take amazing pictures.

After admiring the picturesque fjords of Russkaya Bay, you will head back to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. If you are lucky, you might see orcas in the sea. On arrival at the port, you will be taken to a hotel in the city. In the evening you will have dinner (extra paid) and rest.

Day 8 Returning home

After breakfast, a transfer to the Elizovo airport will take place, from where you will head home. You can stop at the fish market on the way if you so choose.
