Quiet valleys at the sea surrounded by sugar loaves—that's what mountains are dubbed in Chukotka. The local tundra is more like prairie, and the lakes are full of various colors from bright turquoise to black. Board a motor boat to explore the glitziest bays, walk along the coastline and spend a night under the starlit sky in a picturesque lowland.

Experiences you'll have

A Chukotka Journey

Your journey will take you to the Providence Fjords that are one of the most beautiful places in Chukotka. The harsh high sugar loaves, the numerous bays, and extremely scarce flora will leave you in awe. You'll be surprised by how full of contrast the Penkingney Bay is; it is the most picturesque bay over there, one that looks like an oasis. Bushes four meters in height, mushrooms as big as a small watermelon, and bunches of berries here and there that attract hares, bears, and wolverines aside from travelers.

You'll spend a few days traveling across the mountains and along the coastline of the Penkingney Bay. You'll boat to the Gilmimyl Bay, which is Chukchi for 'warm water'. There are hot springs next to the bay; don't miss an opportunity to swim there! Then you'll boat to the Senyavin Strait and the Whale Alley, a monument of ancient Eskimo culture. The final destination is the marine hunters base, from which you'll ride a car to the village of Provideniya. After exploring the bays of the Senyavin Strait, you'll take another marine boat trip, this time to the fjords of the Providence Bay.

Local airlines offer only a limited number of seats and start selling tickets well in advance. That is why you can book a tour up until March 1st. You can book a trip later; however, tickets may already be sold-out at later dates.

The program may be adjusted due to weather conditions. In particular, marine boat tours may be rescheduled in case of storm surges. Whether the tourists are to put to the sea is up to the captain of the boat. In case your plane to or from Anadyr won't depart due to weather, we offer an alternative program at the client's discretion.

Itinerary

The journey begins in Anadyr, and you have to get there on your own. We are ready to help you buy the tickets; if necessary, leave a comment in your application.

Note that to be in Anadyr by the start of the program, you have to depart Moscow the day before. Contact our manager for details.

Also bring a swimsuit, a towel, and slippers (crocs or something similar) for hot spring swimming. To keep your cameras safe from seawater when boating, take a waterproof backpack. You'll also need sunglasses and individual medicines. As you'll spend a few days and nights outdoors, bring sleeping bags.

Will I need a pass to the border area +

The Chukotka Autonomous Okrug is located in a border area, so the rules of stay are very strict. You'll need a pass to enter Chukotka.

Will I have connectivity +

Mobile connectivity is mostly very poor or non-existent in this region.
