Experiences you'll have

Snowmobile safari in the Kola peninsula

Majestic mountain peaks, wrapped in mists, and a valley of springs spouting from the depths of permafrost. Deep gorges and frozen waterfalls. Cliffs of granite and endless expanses of snow amidst the piercing blue of the northern sky... You'll travel a distance of more than 500 kilometers! The route of each day is a loop. From Day One and until you go back home, you'll travel new roads and paths to discover sceneries and sights you've never seen before!

You'll cross Lake Greater Imandra, one of the largest lakes in the North of Russia. You'll also visit the railway stations of Imandra and Khibiny, which have for years been the trans-shipment points for exploration expeditions. You'll come to the Reschor Pass, the West and East Petrelius Passes, and conquer the Pass of Geologists. You'll see the legendary Wilhelm Ramsay Gorge and marvel at the waterfall there, swim in the mountain river and try the national venison and seafood cuisine.

By default, the tour fee includes a single-rider snowmobile fee; however, you can opt for a double-rider fee, which is 30 000 RUB per person.

Itinerary

The journey begins in Kirovsk, and you have to get there on your own. Read more under Important Things to Know.

Day 1 The pearl of the Khibiny

You'll be taken to the Tirvas camp, where you'll pick up snowmobiles. After training, you'll be provided with gear and ride your snowmobile to Lake Maly Vudyavr, referred to as the Pearl of the Khibiny Mountains. Around the lake is forest tundra with amazing landscapes and countless marshes. You'll see the dancing conifers and 'ingrown' stone boulders among them.

Afterwards you'll go to the Takhtarporr Ridge and visit its observation platforms and the 'training slope'. After a short trip to the Maly Vudyavriok River, you'll come back to the camp.

The distance of this route is 215 kilometers.

Day 2 Ride to the heart of the Kola

You'll drive a snowmobile to the Bolshoi Vudyavriok River and from there to Lake Serdtsevidnoye, which derives its name (Russian for 'heart-shaped') from its unusual shape.

The route then goes to the Kunyiok River and the Risikyor River, Mount Kuelporr, and the Northern Reschor Gorge, where you'll go to observation platforms. Then you'll climb up Mount Kaskasnyunchorr, which overlooks all of the Khibiny Mountains. After that, you'll go to the Kuelporr camp and back to Tirvas.

The distance of this route is 160 kilometers.

Day 3 Mountain passes

You'll drive a snowmobile to the Pass of Geographers located between Lake Maly Vudyavr and the valley of the Bolshaya Belaya River. On the rise, steep slopes alternate with gentle landings. The peak overlooks the Khibiny Mountains, Lake Imandra and Apatity. Breathtaking scenery!

Your further route is as follows: W. Ramsay Pass to East Petrelius Pass to W. Ramsay Pass to Petrelius Pass to the Puachvunyok Stream to the Maly Vudyavriok River.

Coming back to the camp, you'll take SUVs to go back to Kirovsk.

The distance of this route is 140 kilometers.
