Experiences you'll have

A snowmobile safari

You’ll learn how to drive a snowmobile and travel as much as 240 km of snowmobile trails in the sleepy Karelian forests! You’ll see the sacred, preserved sights of our northern realms: the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Yuzhni Dvor, the Transfiguration Church, and the Churchyard of the Isle of Kizhi.

Your trip will be a mix of a vibrant snowmobile safari and a great sightseeing tour that will take you to some historic UNESCO World Heritage sites!

Note that we can change the tour program and dates upon your request. Write your suggestions in the comments section of the order form.

Our guides will meet you at the Petrozavodsk Railway Station upon the arrival of train #18 from Moscow. You will then be taken to the starting point of the tour.

Itinerary

The journey begins in Russian Petrozavodsk, which you must travel to on your own. We are ready to assist with the purchase of tickets. If necessary, leave a comment in the order.

Day 1 First Turn

Your safari begins in Kedrozero, a small settlement 90 km away from Petrozavodsk. You will pick up gear, undergo training and learn how to drive a snowmobile.

Then the safari begins! The first part of the route goes from Kedrozero through Pegrema, Yuzhni Dvor, Lipovitsy, and the Isle of Kizhi to the village of Sennaya Guba, for a total distance of 80 km. We will stop in Yuzhni Dvor to enjoy the great sight of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. After we return to the base, feel free to unwind and relax in the sauna.

Day 2 The Kizhi Churchyard and the Transfiguration Church

This is another 80-km route from the village of Sennaya Guba to the Isle of Kizhi, then to the villages of Podyelniki, Volkostrov and Yandomozero, from which you return to Sennaya Guba. This route is a loop that travels through the forest.

We will stop en route to marvel at the Kizhi Churchyard and the Transfiguration Church. These great works of folk wooden architecture are nearly three hundred years old! The architectural ensemble on the Isle of Kizhi is on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites and is one of Russia's oldest open-air museums. You will have free time for strolling; our evening sauna will open its doors for you.

Day 3 Farewell to Karelia

This is the last part of our safari, yet another 80-km snowmobile trek from Sennaya Guba through Yuzni Dvor and Pegrema to Kedrozero. We will take you from the village of Kedrozero back to Petrozavodsk. From there, you catch an evening train to go home.
