Tour: In the land of Sami legends

Day 1

Morning arrival in Murmansk by the night flight of Sky Express or Aeroflot from Moscow. Meeting at the airport of Murmansk and transfer by a mini-van to Kirovsk, towards your winter adventure (appr 2 hrs). Breakfast in a café.

Short transfer to the starting point of the itinerary in the vicinity of Kirovsk town, just at the foothill of the Khibiny mountains (20 min). Get outfitted and equipped for snowmobiling. Your activity instructor will give a brief on snowmobiling and safety.

Start your snowmobile safari (appr 80 km). The main challenge for today will be to master your snowmobile driving skills in the mountainous area. We will snowmobile 20 km up from Kirovsk through the valley to Kuelporr, where the local mountain rescue team is based. From Kuelporr, we will go further for a radial snowmobile trip to Eastern Petrelius and Northern Rischorr (appr 60 km). Lunch as a field snack on the way.

Accommodation in the guesthouse Ramzay-Sever at Kuelporr. Russian banya (traditional steam sauna. If you wish, you can have a dip into the icy water of the river next to the banya).

Dinner and overnight at Kuelporr (in twins with private WC/shower and rooms for 4-6 persons with shared WCs and showers)

Day 2

After breakfast, leave Kuelporr to enjoy a full-day snowmobiling trip (135 km). Today we will snowmobile along the mountain slopes, passes, river valleys and gorges. Master snowmobiling skills along the route Kuelporr – Kukisvumchorr pass – Ramzay’s pass – Western Petrelius pass - Malaya Belaya river – Medvezhy (Bears) rivulet – Pochtovy (Postman) pass – Aku-Aku fault - Malaya Belaya river – Kuelporr. Lunch as a field snack on the way.

Return to Kuelporr, dinner. Optional banya (for extra fee on the spot). Overnight at Kuelporr

Day 3

After breakfast, pack and leave Kuelporr by snowmobiles towards the sacred lakes of Sami (125 km) across the mountain slopes, passes, and on the lake ice along the route Kuelporr – Southern Partamchorr (radial trip) – Tuliok river – Umbozero lake – Puncha – Lovozero lake – Seidozero lake. Lunch as a field snack on the way.

Arrival in Lovozero, accommodation in the atmospheric Bear’s Corner guesthouse.

Russian Banya, dinner and overnight in Lovozero (in rooms for 3-6 persons, no hot water, WC facilities outside).

Day 4

After breakfast, we will enjoy snowmobiling to the starting point of our itinerary – Kirovsk, now taking a slightly different way (shortcut, 105 km) along the route Lovozero lake – Puncha - Umbozero lake – Umbozero pass – Kirovsk. Lunch as a field snack on the way.

We will be back to Kirovsk by 6 pm. The mini-van will take you to Murmansk airport (2 hrs), just in time for departure to Moscow by the evening flight of Sky Express at 9 pm
