If you are ready to venture for new and unusual experiences, if you are looking for an activity in the unique nature sites where usual travelers do not have access to, this biking tour is specially for you. 7 days in the beautiful northern nature, discovery of the past and history of the Karelian land, visits to Karelian and Russian settlements, active adventure and relaxation in the Tolvojarvi nature reserve are waiting for you. Fancy: two spinning wheels, trail so tempting with its turns, cool wind in your face…your adventure begins!


Day 1

5.30/7.30 arrive in Lodeynoye Pole by overnight train* from Moscow. Meeting at the railway station and transfer to Salmi village (140 km). Breakfast, outfitting, safety briefing. Visit to the ruined St Nicholas church. Lunch in a café.

Start your biking tour along the picturesque route Salmi village - Orusyarvi village believed to be the holy site of the Ladoga Lake shore - Kolatsel’ga village. (biking 45 km, up to 8 hrs)

Dinner cooked over campfire and overnight in tents

 

Day 2

Breakfast. Bike 10 km to visit the historical ore shaft&adits of Peter the Great (next to Kolatselga village). Continue biking tour Kolatsel’ga village – Pitsiyoki village – lake Kollasyarvi (60 km, appr 9 hrs). Our way passes through the WWII sites still bearing the traces of the Winter war (1939 – 1940). Lunch on the way.

Dinner cooked over campfire and overnight in tents on the shore of Kollasjarvi lake

 

Day 3

Breakfast. Biking from Lake Kollasjarvi to Loymola past the ruins of Soviet and Finnish defense fortifications and further to Tolvojarvi (60 km, appr 9 hrs). Lunch on the way. Dinner cooked over campfire and overnight in tents

 

Day 4

A day in Tolvojarvi nature reserve, among pine woods, rocks, small and large scenic lakes. Walking; boating or angling are available.

Self-arranged “tourist sauna” (invented by Russian nature travelers). BDL over campfire. Overnight in tents

 

Day 5

Another day in Tolvojarvi to enjoy nature. Trekking or biking in nature reserve (as preferred by tour participants) through the typical taiga vegetation to see Russian and Finnish history sites and enjoy the views of the lakes.

Day 6

Breakfast. Continue your biking tour on the road along the Finnish border Tolvojarvi – Mustavara. Lunch on the way.

Dinner cooked over campfire and overnight in tents

 

Day 7

Breakfast. The last day of your biking adventure along the route Mustavara – Ruskeala. Visit to the Ruskeala lake with blue-green waters in the rocky bowl,  the unique nature and marble monument, and Ruskeala waterfalls. Lunch on the way. Sauna, transfer to Lodeynoe Pole railway station. Dinner in a café

* Time on train one-way:  10-11 hrs from Moscow and 4 hrs from St Petersburg to Lodeynoe Pole; comfortable night trains
