Contrary to popular belief ascent to Elbrus, 5642m, Europe’s highest mountain is open to all physically healthy people without special climbing trainings. Only your wish and eagerness to leave behind the benefits of civilization for a week are needed. Find yourself amid snow and
glaciers; enjoy the primeval nature atmosphere, see the unearthly beauty of morning Elbrus! You’ll feel the primeval freedom on the top of the mountain and understand that you may conquer yourself, but can not conquer the mountain.
1 day
Meeting in village Terskol (Kabardino-Balkaria). Accommodation in private flat in village Terskol or in hotel. Questions about accommodation and meeting time you may ask by telephone or e-mail. For preliminary request meeting on railway station ot in airport are possible. Optimal variant of arrival to the region are: by plane to town Minvody or town Nalchik, by train to station Prokhladnaya. Overnight stay in village Terskol.
2 day
Acclimatization walk from the accommodation place to Cheget-Tau-Chana mountain flank till the height of 3000 meters. Using of lifts is not recommended, because the best acclimatization results are reachable only in combination with physical load. Magnificent viewpoint over Elbrus, Donguz-Orun, Nakra and other region’s beautiful summits. After the returning you’ll have a chance to take part in downhill skiing or sledging on Cheget’s flanks. Overnight stay in village Terskoll.
3 day
Tranfer from village Terskoll to station “Azau” of Elbrus ropeway. Ascension to “Gara-Bash” hut accommodation place (3800
meters). The ropeway has two stages. From the upper station “Mir” to “Gara-Bash” hut the chair-lift is built. Unfortunately it doesn’t work every day, so there is also a possibility of walking to “Gara-Bashi” hut or rending the SnowCat (extra pay). Accommodation in “Gara-Bashi” hut or in Diesel hut (Priut-11 hut). Lunch and hot tea. Safety Instructions.
Acclimatizaxion walk to the rocks (4400 m) upper the Diesel hut. Overnight stay in hut.
4 day
Acclimatisation walk to Pastukhova Rocks (4600-4800 meters). Equipment adjustment. Practise with ice axe and crampons. Sightseeing. Overnight stay in hut.
5 day
Acclimatisation walk till the Kosaya Polka (5000 meters). If necessary using the rope and other mountaineering equipment. Overnight stay in hut.
6 day
Day rest. Descending till one of the stations (“Mir”, “Krugozor” or “Azau”) is recommended. Downhill skiing or snowboarding (for those who wish). Preparation to ascending. Overnight stay in hut.
7 day
Ascending day. We’ll begin in small hours of the morning: getting up at 2.00 a.m., ascent begins at 3.00 a.m. (in case
the weather is suitable).
Choosing of the summit will happen in the evening before ascending (depending on the weather and route conditions
and group state). The guide’s decision must be respected by all the group’s members. The ascent must be finished at
1.00 p.m., after that the group must start descending. Descent lasts 5-6 hours. Overnight stay in hut.
8 day
Spare day on Elbrus in case of bad weather for the ascent on day 7. In case the ascent is done in day 7 – day of relax, downhill skiing. In the evening – descent to village Terskoll.
You may order the sauna and/or the supper with national cuisine in Cafe (extra pay). Overnight stay in hut or in hotel.
9 day
Descent on Elbrus rope way till the station Azau. Transfer station Azau – village Terskol. Departure.
