Tour: A week in Kamchatka (winter)

 

Only in one week, you will do plenty of things: you will go in snowmobiles and sleds to Avachinsky volcano, try out your dog mushing skills, walk along the Pacific Ocean shore, ski at the Frosty Hill, and relax in the hot springs in Malki and Zelenovskie Ozerki - and all this in the stunning landscape of winter Kamchatka. Optionally, you can also undertake a helicopter trip to the unique and wonderful Valley of Geysers or visit Vilyuchinsky volcano.

Requirements: no special requirements; but own winter activity outfit is a must

Day 1

Arrive in Petropalovsk-Kamchatski. Meeting at the airport by the local English-speaking guide, transfer to the city (25 km). Check-in at the hotel. Rest to accommodate the jet lag.
In the evening, have a trip to Paratunka located next to the city to relax in the swimming pool of Kamchatkan thermal water.

Day 2  
After breakfast in the hotel, leave by car to the Moroznaya (Frosty) skiing center, one of the best Russian downhill skiing hills where the Olympic Team was trained for 10 years, with breth-taking views of the nearby mountains. At your choice and expense, enjoy downhill skiing / snowboarding / Nordic flatland skiing (downhill skiing: 5 tracks 520-2050 m long, slopes 10-30 degrees).
In the afternoon, have a trip to Zelenovskie Ozerki to check the quality of the local medicinal springs and have a dip in the hydro-sulphuric thermal waters.

Day 3  
Today a full-day (6-7 hrs) of snowmobiling to Avachinski volcano expects us.
After breakfast, transfer to the starting point of the snowmobiling itinerary. Safety briefing, driving instructions, practice session. Start out by snowmobiles (2 persons/snowmobile) to the foothills of the majestic Avachinski volcano, which is considered one of the most scenic and active volcanoes of Kamchatka.

Day 4  
After breakfast, leave for a full-day trip to Malki. Have a guided visit of the local fishery and enjoy the warmth of the Malkinskie thermal springs. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 5  
After breakfast, leave for Kamchatkan dog breeding center. Get introduced to dog maintenance and training by the local staff. Try to learn mushing from the professional musher during a half-day tour in dog sleds (2 persons/sled, 3 hrs).
In the afternoon, we will depart for the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy a walk along the shore of the magnificent Pacific.

Day 6  
After breakfast, leave for a sightseeing tour of the city. Have a guided tour of the local lore museum famous for its impressive ethnographic exhibition.
In the afternoon, go to the sea quay Mokhovoy to watch the eared seals who favour this site in winter.

Day 7  
Today is a free day that can be used for other – optional – trips (for an extra fee):
- a half-day helicopter tour of the Valley of Geysers, one of the most stunning natural sites in the world (extra-fee on the spot), provided that the weather/visibility conditions allow and a group with a min number of persons is formed;
- a full-day trip to Vilyuchinsky volcano by snowmobile and sleds, with a walk to the impressive waterfall and relaxation in the natural baths of the hot Verkhneparatunskie thermal springs (extra-fee; attention: booking in advance is required).
- a trip to a ski station for downhill skiing / snowboarding / Nordic flatland skiing at the Frosty mountain or other downhill centers in the mountains in the vicinity of Petropalovsk-Kamchatski (extra-fee on the spot).
Night in the hotel in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski (double-basis) or in Paratunka resort area (upon your request).
 
Day 8  
After breakfast, visit the local Fish Market to buy the delicious sea fruits and souvenirs for those who stayed back home. Check-out. Transfer to the airport and departure.
 
You can extend this programme with a 4-days trip to the national settlement Esso (booking in advance and extra-charge).
 
The Tour Operator reserves the right to change the order of days or introduce some changes to the itinerary due to the weather conditions

The tour cost:
EUR 990 pp by bank transfer from abroad; RUB 36 500 pp in RUB cash in Moscow.
