Tour: Real North adventure

The most northern part of European Russia... The austere land of endless mountainous tundra, cold breath of the Arctic Ocean, waves breaking against the black rocky shore, and unexpectedly bright spots of blossoming lichens…

The spirit of Eternity, the true spirit of North.

Make your way by a powerful quad across Kola Peninsula, a difficult vast terrain previously closed for any visits by the Russian militaries. Nowadays only the scars of World War II – fortifications in the rocks, trenches with barbed wire, Soviet and German weapons - remind of any human presence in these lands.

Day 1

For those arriving in Murmansk on the eve of the tour start date, a city sightseeing programme is available for a supplement (see under the itinerary).
Night/early morning arrival in Murmansk by Sky Express, meeting at the airport by the guide. Early morning transfer by the Russian Army off-road truck to Titovka, the point of access to the formerly closed military zone (110 km, paved road, 2-3 hrs). Stop on the way at the War Memorial at the Valley of Glory, which in the past was called the Valley of Death.
After passing the control for access to the nowadays borderline area, continue the trip – now along the old dirt rocky track built by Germans in 1941-42, to the base camp (30 km, dirt track, 1-2 hrs). Stop on the way at the scenic waterfall on the Titovka river.
Arrive in the 1st stationary tent camp “Musta-Tunturi” just in time for a hot field meal cooked over campfire.
After the safety briefing, we will get on the quads and set off for a radial trip along the itinerary: camp - Ustojarvi lake – New Titovka – Mogilny (Grave) rivulet – Oberhoff – camp. We will follow an impressive dirt rocky track that goes up the mountain passes, squeezes next to the abyss, meanders between lakes and rocks. Our goal is to reach the base point for German defense from the sea attacks - Oberhoff. Return to the camp by quads.
Dinner cooked over campfire. Night in tents in the 1st stationary camp “Musta-Tunturi” (equipped with a biotoilet and summer shower tent).
Day distance quad: 80+ km (rocky dirt tracks, old war roads built in 1940, wades)

Lunch as a light snack on the way.
Arrive in the 2nd stationary tent camp “Skorbeesky” equipped with a biotoilet and summer shower tent in Skorbeevka bay. Skorbeevka is the right place to feel the true Arctic spirit - facing the endless cold waters of the austere Arctic Ocean, with the magnificent tundra behind you, and black sharp rocks eastwards along the shore. Free time, dinner and night in tents
Day distance quad: 100 km

Explore the signs and think about the past of the courageous seafarers.
