Tour: Kamchatkan kaleidoscope

During the trip you’ll visit such spectacular sites of Kamchatka as active volcanoes Mutnovsky & Avachinsky, which are considered to be the most beautiful volcanoes, have a sea trip along Avacha Bay and the Pacific Ocean to see the biggest bird’  colonies, raft down the Bystraya river, which flows through stately mountain range. You’ll be able to watch the wild and magnificent nature of Kamchatka, and might spot brown bear, salmon at motion in the rivers. Optionally, you can also take a helicopter trip to the unique and wonderful Valley of Geysers .


Day 1

Arrival at the airport, transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (20km). Check-in at a hotel, rest to accommodate the jet lag. Strolls along the city on your own.
20.00 – meeting at the hotel with the group guide, dinner and discussion of the itinerary. Accommodation at a hotel (DBL).
 
Day 2
Free day. If you want you may make a  helicopter excursion to the Valley of Geysers (extra fee on the spot), flight around Karymsky (1486m) and Maly Semyachik (1560m) volcanoes, walk excursion at the Valley. This valley cannot be compared with any other unique objects in the world. There are more than 20 big geysers in the valley. Velican (Giant), Zhemchuzhny (Pearly), Sakharny (Sugary), Troinoi (Triple), Konus (Cone), Fontan (Fountain), Maly (Small), Bolshoy (Big), Shchel (Split) – here are some names. There are geysers that gush forth every 10-12 minutes, while others may erupt once in 4-5 hours. The wreathes of steam, fountains of boiling water, incredible colours of slopes, hot water streaming along them and profuse greenery of grasses and trees create an enchanting spectacle. Lunch is served at the Valley. In the evening driving to Avachinsky volcano by “off road” car (45km). Accomodation at the tour basis “Three vulcanoes”. Accommodation for a night in huts, in rooms on 4 - 10 person.
 
Day 3
A walk on the slopes of Koryaksky volcano and to the mountain under the name “Camel” (5-6 hours). Accommodation for a night in the huts for 4-10 persons, sleeping bags.
 
Day 4
Ascent to Avachinsky volcano (2749m). Walk to the young cone of volcano. From the edge of the volcano a stunning view could be seen: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, valleys of Avacha river and Avacha Bay; Vilyuchinsky, Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes - to the south; the valley of Nalychevo river, Zhupanovsky & Dzenzur volcanoes – to the north. The massive cone of Koryak volcano dominates to the west. This ascent takes about 6-8 hrs, descent 2-3 hrs. If the climbing up is difficult for somebody, it’s possible to return to the camp.
Driving to the resort area next to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski “Paratunka”. Accommodation in the tour lodge (DBL), rest, bathing in swimming-pools with hot thermal water.
 
Day 5
Driving to the Bystraya river (120 km). Beginning of rafting on floatable rafts. It takes place among grand mountain ranges along the river with insignificant rapids. The nature is virtually unspoilt along the shores. Dinner at the fire (fish-soup), spending the night in tents.
 
Day 6
 
Rafting along the Bystraya river (2 rapids). During stops on the river shores you can fish, pick some mushrooms and berries, and watch seagulls, wild ducks, and some animals.
If you are lucky enough, you’ll see a bear or a Steller’s sea eagle. All those things make the rafting very interesting.
Field meals, night in tents.
 
Day 7
Rafting along the Bystraya river (1 rapid). Field meals. Drive back to the resort area “Paratunka” (180km). Accommodation in the tour lodge (DBL), rest, bathing in swimming-pools with hot thermal water.
 
Day 8
Sea-trip on a boat around the Avacha Baó (5-6 hours). See the sea birds nests on the islands “Babushkin Kamen (Granny’s Stone)” and “Tree Brata (Three Brothers)”. Short trip in the Pacific Ocean to the island “Starichkov”. It is possible to encounter some whales or dolphins. Lunch.
After the boat trip drive to Mutnovsky volcano by an off road car (100km). Setting up the camp. Excursion walk to the waterfall (90m) in the canyon Opasny (Dangerous).
Field meals, night in tents.
 
Day 9
Ascent to the crater of Mutnovsky volcano (2323m); the major part of the way up is done by the off-road car. See amazing active fumaroles, boiling mud craters, mountain lake. The crater of volcano Mutnovsky is one of the most wonderful volcanic phenomenon of Kamchatka. Steep walls surround wide and deep crater, with shining glaciers and a small lake on the bottom. The trip takes 8 hours.
Field meals, night in tents.
 
Day 10
Ascent to Gorely volcano crater (1829m), walk along the coulee (hardened lava-stream), slag fields. See the 3 craters with glacier and acid lakes. The trip takes 6 hours.
Drive back to the resort area “Paratunka” (180km). Accommodation in the tour lodge (DBL), rest, bathing in swimming-pools with hot thermal water.
 
Day 11
After breakfast, visit the fish market. Transfer to the airport.
 
During the Days 2-10, the change of the order of the three 3-days blocks are possible, depending on the date of your arrival.
