Orusyarvi village

There is a legend that on the place of a village church there used to be Orusyarvi monastery (about 800 years ago). The Russian faithful believe that the holiest place on the Finnish coast is Orusyarvi and St. Nicolay patronizes it.
Varashev kamen’ (Day 3). A national boundary between Russia and Sweden was established by the Stolbovskiy Peace treaty in 1617. The beginning of water part of the border was marked by a boundary mark, a so-called “Varashev kamen’” that is nowadays recognized as a unique historic monument. This 2-meter high pink-granite stone can be seen from the shore as well as from Lake Ladoga.
