The Kamchatka river

Separates silent mountains of the western part of the peninsula from active volcanoes of the east. This is the biggest river of Kamchatka; it is about 800 km long from the south to the north. It is the only navigable river of all 14 000 rivers and rivulets of the peninsula. The river begins in the Middle and the Eastern Mountain ridges. Here it is very stormy and furious but it is getting calmer in a hundred of kilometers, the water runs more slowly and the ridges give way to the river.
