Kuel’porr

Kuel’porr mountain is known for the fact that in the eighties there were two underground nuclear explosions made at a several years interval for industrial purpose. Kuel’porr was chosen for testing of nuclear energy utilization for apatite extraction. One pin-point explosion was supposed to fracture the rock vertically and the other – horizontally whereupon the crashed stone was easy to extract. The experiment failed and the quarry was closed down and filled up. Radiation level on Kuel’porr and its surroundings does not differ from the natural one; the water in rivers and streams is clean.
