Lake Seidozero lies at the height of 189 m above sea level, its length is 8 km, its width ranges from 1.5 km in its narrow part to 2.5 km in its wide part. Seidyavr is the Sami for “the lake of mountain spirits”. The Lapps considered the Seidozero a sacred lake; annually they made sacrifices near seids – queer stones that were considered an abode of the spirits. Nowadays a lot of legends, superstitions and anomalous phenomena are connected with Lake Seidozero; they say that it is one of the main “Power places” in Russia.
